I also widened my little planting area from 4 inches to 12 inches around the picket fence in the play yard and planted sweet peas. It has bricks etween it and the grass so it will be a cinch to mow around.
This is the area from last summer.
This is close up:
Next week I should have flowers I can share from this year! My daffodils and tulips are ready to pop.
Thanks to Jean at for hosting Blooming Tuesday. I love this day to look at everyone's gardens and how they are growing. Check out this link to see other participants http://msgreenthumbjean.blogspot.com/

I love that area, looks like a happy place.
WOW!
You have lots of wonderful blooms. Have a great week.
Wow, what a beautiful patio area on your header picture! I love the smell of sweet peas. They are such a pretty flower.
Oh honestly, by mid April we shouldn't have any 'winter storm watches', should we? Crazy, but often true -- in Idaho and Colorado! ;o)
Your sweet peas from last summer are gorgeous! I wish I had a sunny spot like that to plant some. Can't wait to see your daffodils and tulips!
Oh how pretty, also love the playhouse. Snow showers! I can't believe your expecting snow, just hope the weather man is wrong. Hugs, Rosemarie
What a wonderful play area! So sorry to hear about your storm watch. I won't be surprised if we get more before we're thru. Love the sweet peas on the fence! Jean
That's such a pretty, pleasant area you show in your last year's photo. Are those sweet peas?

Sweet peas are so pretty. Perhaps you won't get the snow. Being from Minnesota, I understand how anxious you are for spring to come and stay.
The only thing I can think of that might be more fab then visting all of the gardens on tuesday is attending the 'ugly bug ball!'
I giggled the entire stroll through your garden.
